ARC’TERYX  |  COMMUNITY EVENTS  |   ARC’TERYX ACADEMYÂ
What goes up has more fun—that's why we’re opening the doors for everyone to experience the magic of climbing with our Gym Residencies. Whether you’re new to the sport or curious about how to reach the next grade, our long-term gym partnerships are your place to join the community, learn together, and climb higher.Â
Â
The best part? A lot of our events will be free or at a reduced cost to you—and will include shoe and chalk rentals.Â
The soul and identity of Arc’teryx comes from our climbing roots. Founded in the rugged and expansive Coast Mountains of British Columbia by local climbers in 1989, we’re focused on and inspired by bringing the transformative powers of the mountains to everyone. Â
Â
We believe that every climb is a new beginning. That’s why we love this sport—it gives us a fresh perspective, makes us think outside the box, and invites us to rise together in new ways. Â
Â
Our partnership with the Bouldering Project reflects this philosophy. More than a collection of climbing gyms, the Bouldering Project creates spaces for people to gather, build friendships, push higher, and express themselves.Â
Â
So let’s spot one another, cheer each other on, and brush someone else’s holds. Â
Â
See you at the gymÂ
At your first check-in, you will receive an orientation from a staff member that includes an overview of how to understand the walls and how to fall. Your new membership or day pass also includes a free 30 minute Intro to BP session (which are run every day), where you can learn some of the fundamentals of climbing and navigating a climbing gym. We also offer Beginning Bouldering Technique classes!
You need either a membership or a day pass to climb or participate in events at Bouldering Project. We offer monthly memberships, prepaid memberships, day passes, or 10 punch passes. Most events are accessible with a pass, but some are members-only.
During the Arc’teryx Gym Residency, there will be access to reduced pricing for a 3-month pass (see below). The Bouldering Project also offers an Access Membership program, which is a self-select in, and self-select off program, offered at two reduced prices—a 25% reduction or a 40% reduction from our base price for monthly recurring memberships. See here for more details.
The Arc’teryx Access membership is designed to help reduce financial barriers to Bouldering Project Memberships. This discount is available to qualifying people based on their individual financial needs and take 50% off a 3-month, prepaid membership. Apply here.
The only thing you need to boulder are climbing shoes. Most climbers also use chalk to give their hands more friction. If you don't have climbing shoes or chalk, we rent and sell both at our front desk. We recommend wearing comfortable, stretchy clothing that is easy to move in. Note that the walls and holds can be a little rough, especially on your pants. We have a shirts-on policy and require climbing shoes on the walls (no bare feet, no street shoes). Â
Â
Other than that, we recommend bringing a water bottle to stay hydrated and we have water fountains to re-fill your bottles.Â
For safety reasons, we do not allow children to be left unattended at our gym. However, we offer many opportunities for kids and their parents to climb. See here for more details.Â
Â
* Rock climbing is inherently dangerous. Highly attentive adult supervision is crucial for the safety of youth and others. Any youth (younger than 14) must be actively supervised by the adult responsible for them during their visit to the gym. Any parent, guardian or chaperone responsible for a youth must maintain direct supervision over them during their entire visit. An adult cannot supervise more than 2 youth at a time.Â
Â
**Bouldering is a physically demanding sport, but we’re here to help. Children don’t need to have previous experience to start, but we do recommend children are at least 4 years old before trying out bouldering. Â
