Are you a female snowboarder, split-boarder, or interested in trying?
Join us for a night to connect, learn and share the stoke as a part of the Backcountry Academy Prep Series!
In partnership with Arc'teryx Metrotown ambassador, Gabrielle Burke, we're excited to host a panel discussion at her ceramics studio, along with local female snowboard athletes and ambassadors. The panelists include Arc'teryx athletes and ambassadors who will share their journeys and experiences as women in snow sports.
Stick around for delicious refreshments, fun mingling, the chance to win epic prizes, and to learn more about backcountry splitboarding! There will be displays and demos from our panelists and community partners to show you everything you need to get started with split-boarding, plus get all your questions answered from a seasoned female rider!

Gabrielle Burke is a ceramic artist, photographer, and overall winter enthusiast. With a passion for snowboarding and anything powder related, you can find her in winter months snowboarding, splitboarding & skiing, winter hiking & camping. She values education, collaboration, and inspiring women to step outside their comfort zone and take up space in the outdoors. She has just started her first season volunteering as an instructor with Vancouver Adaptive Snowsports.
Over the last decade, Abby has crafted a career in the outdoor industry as a photographer, producer and creative director specializing in remote backcountry locations while keeping up with athletes of various disciplines. With extensive training and experience in safety, weather forecasting, first aid, route planning, location scouting and 20 years of avalanche safety, Abby is often sought after for her ability to produce in wildly bizarre locations. Whether for work or pleasure, this girl is always on the move, when she's not chasing golden hour deep in an unknown range with a 60lb camera pack, she's speaking at snow safety clinics and facilitating ways to build a stronger backcountry community in partnership with Arc'teryx. She volunteers with both Incluskivity and Mountain Mentors - both nonprofits that aim to break down barriers and make the backcountry more accessible.
Sandy is a competitive snowboarder and founding member of Indigenous Women Outdoors. Sandy is from the Lil’wat Nation. She is passionate about Indigenous access to the outdoors, and devotes much of her time to this cause, serving as a First Nations Snowboard Team coach, leading the Indigenous Women Outdoors Backcountry Membership Program, and running snowboard and mountain biking programs within and around Lil’wat territory.
Sarah is a queer Filipino privileged to live work and recreate on the stolen land of the xÊ·məθkÊ·É™yÌ“É™m (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and sÉ™lilwÉ™taɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. Born and raised in Vancouver, BC, she is a splitboarder, climber, paddler, and surfer who is passionate about making the outdoors accessible for everyone. Sarah founded All Access Adventures in 2019 to help folks get into adventure sports on quality gear for an affordable cost. All Access started as a backcountry gear rental company but evolved into a social purpose company, hosting community events and giving back to organizations that help improve accessibility and inclusion in the outdoors. All Access supports various charities and youth programs such as UNYA (Urban Native Youth Association) and Take a Hike Foundation. Sarah runs weekly beginner-friendly community meetups for backcountry touring to encourage knowledge sharing, social connection, and skill building.  Sarah volunteers with CHILL Foundation assisting with underprivileged youth’s snowboarding lessons. She loves getting up the mountains for Seymour night rides, and out to the backcountry as much as possible in the winters. In the summers, you'll find her out on the water stand up paddling, or up on a wall climbing with pals.Â
