Ellie Briggs is a mountaineer, splitboarder, and Weston Backcountry ambassador based in Denver, Colorado. Ellie, accompanied by her medical alert dog Loki Eddison, has climbed hundreds of peaks throughout Colorado, the western United States, and Canada. In September 2019 Ellie and Loki successfully summited the infamous Capitol Peak, Colorado’s most dangerous 14,000-foot peak. It marked the completion of their seven year Fourteener journey together as they joined the ranks of official Colorado Fourteener finishers.
Then with an ascent of Washington state’s iconic Mt. Rainier, they made history as Loki became the only dog to ever climb all 59 peaks above 14,000 feet across both states. This feat earned him the honor of being recognized as a 2019 Dog of the Year by the American Kennel Club. Never a pair to settle for long, Ellie and Loki aspire to continue pushing the limits of human-canine mountaineering in 2020 as they take on high alpine climbs from the Sierra of California to the PNW Cascades, all with one unwavering philosophy: never leave the dog behind.
