Perched in the Eastern Himilaya between India and Tibet, the tiny Kingdom of Bhutan is unique in many ways. It is one of only two carbon negative countries in the world, home to numerous rare and endangered species and the originator of Gross National Happiness; a measure of citizen well-being which has been adopted around the globe.
In August 2019, a joint Canadian-Bhutanese team sponsored by the Bhutan Canada Foundation and the Tourism Council of Bhutan, began the restoration of the ancient East-West trail across the centre of the Nation. 430km in length. Over 5 ½ Mount Everest’s of vertical elevation gain; the Trans Bhutan Trail is destined to be one of the world’s greatest long-distance treks.
Join the TBT team in Toronto and Thimphu for a live one-hour journey through history and along this remote, stunning route. Watch the morning rise over Thimphu Valley live from Buddha Point, as we share stories from the trail.
