In this hands-on clinic, we will explore essential topics including: what to pack for a trail running adventure, how to build your own ultralight first-aid kit, how to handle common challenges on the trail, and what to do in the worst-case scenario if a crisis arises. By the end of the session, you'll be inspired to plan your next trail running adventure, equipped with new tools for safety and preparedness in the backcountry.
Bus service will take participants from the Victoria Brand store to the run location, Prospect Lake. Ambassador's Clay and Elise will guide you on a 5km light run with pauses to speak about trail safety and preparedness. Run ending at Power To Be for first aid kit overview, prize give away and final Q & A with the Ambassadors.

Participants will leave the event with a complimentary light weight first aid kit and the confidence to get on the trail.Â

Growing up on Vancouver Island, Clay has had a lifelong connection with the outdoors. Having spent most of his life exploring nature’s playgrounds, it’s no surprise to those who know him that he has spent the past two decades as an Outdoor Educator and Guide, sharing his passion for helping others enjoy the natural world. An avid trail runner with a deep enthusiasm for endurance activities, Clay can often be found on the trails pushing his limits. Committed to fostering strong recreation communities, he has also organized numerous events—including the annual PKOLS Fall Classic.

Elise will run anything! Trail, road, track - you name it! Originally from Nanaimo, trail was her first love and what got her hooked on running in high school. She just graduated from the University of Victoria this past fall and was the university’s first Cross Country All-Canadian in over 10 years. In addition to having multiple sub-ultra trail course records to her name, she dabbles in the track world and is off to compete for Team Canada in the 5k this summer in Germany at the FISU World University Games. When she’s not competing, you’ll find her mountaineering and climbing in Strathcona. She can’t wait to hit the trails with you!
