This event is a part of our Lessons from the Mountains series.

Ready to level up your climbing and connect with the community?

Join us for the Climb Academy Prep Series at Ground Up, a full day of skill-building with 3 clinics and a community celebration at the Gear Yard.

Whether you're new to climbing, refining your movement, or making the jump from gym to crag, we've got you covered with:

- Smooth Moves: Movement & Technique
- Take it Outside: Gym to Crag

All proceeds of clinic sales will be donated to BIPOC Rocks, a BIPOC women-led nonprofit and our work is grounded in principles of equity, diversity and inclusion.

From 3-7pm, experience live gear demos, vintage vendors, on-site repairs by ReBird, games, prizes, and a local food truck.

**For Female-Identifying and Non-Binary Participants Only**

 

New to climbing or just need a refresher? This beginner-friendly clinic will teach you the fundamentals of top rope climbing and belaying in a supportive, inclusive environment. Learn from experienced instructors and gain the confidence to get on the wall.

 

Prerequisites: 

No experience required. If you haven’t climbed at Ground Up before, please arrive 30 minutes early for a free orientation and sign a waiver.


Minimum age: 16


What to Bring: 

All gear provided (climbing shoes, harness, belay device). Personal gear welcome.

TAKE IT OUTSIDE - GYM TO CRAG

Meet at Ground Up Climbing Centre; travel to Smoke Bluffs

Introduction to Anchor Building.


This full-day clinic is designed for climbers ready to take their skills outdoors. Learn to build and assess top rope anchors using bolts and natural features, and gain a strong foundation in outdoor climbing systems and safety.

 

Topics Covered: 

Crag safety, knots, redundancy, bolt/tree anchors, anchor threading & cleaning


Prerequisites: 

Minimum 6 months of top rope climbing and belaying. 

 

What to Bring: 

All gear included. Personal equipment welcome. Must have transport for outdoor portion.

SMOOTH MOVES: MOVEMENT & TECHNIQUE

This movement-focused clinic will teach you to climb more efficiently through proper body positioning, footwork, and balance. Ideal for beginners or anyone looking to improve their technique and build confidence on the wall.
