Join us on April 20th at 7:00 PM for a Snowpack Recap event hosted by POW Canada at Arc'teryx Calgary!

Our guest speakers; Mike Koppang (Kananaskis Mountain Safety) and Author Andrew Nugara will discuss this past season's snowpack and high avalanche risk, as well as what we can learn moving into next seasons, and how we can anticipate these risks to change given the impact of climate change. 

This event will benefit all mountain enthusiasts - whether you hike, climb, ski, snowboard, snowshoe, or you frequent the backcountry.

Haley Daniels

Haley Daniels the newest Arc'teryx Calgary Ambassador and a member of the POW Athlete Alliance. Haley competed at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and pioneered the inclusion of women in canoeing at the Olympics. Now retired from competing, she is a professional speaker on the topics of diversity and inclusion, is an advocate for protecting the outdoors and action on climate change, and is an avid backcountry adventurer.

Mike Koppang

Mike is an avalanche professional, ACMG Ski guide and Mountain Rescue Specialist working with Alberta Parks in Kananaskis country. In his 25+ years working with Kananaskis he has responded to numerous avalanche incidents as well as backcountry emergencies through the region and the province. Mike is also on the board of directors with the Canadian Association of Wilderness medicine who is looking to advance wilderness medicine techniques across Canada. When not working locally he guides ski touring and is active in the heliskiing industry.

Andrew Nugara

Andrew Nugara was born in Rugby, England, and moved to Canada in 1979. He earned bachelor degrees in classical guitar performance and in education and presently teaches high school physics, mathematics, and music. Andrew is the author of numerous bestselling guidebooks published by RMB, including More Scrambles in the Canadian Rockies – 3rd Edition, A Beginner’s Guide to Snowshoeing in the Canadian Rockies – 2nd Edition, Snowshoeing in the Canadian Rockies – 2nd Edition, Popular Snowshoe Trails in the Canadian Rockies, Family Walks and Hikes in the Canadian Rockies – Volume 1, Family Walks and Hikes in the Canadian Rockies – Volume 2, Popular Day Hikes: The Castle and Crowsnest, and Popular Day Hikes: Waterton. He lives in Calgary, Alberta.
