Join us for a 7km trail run led by Rilee Many Bears at Nosehill Park on June 29th at 6:30pm. Elder Alvine Wolf Leg and drummer Spike Eagle Speaker and members of Soul of Miistaki will join us before the run.
Rilee Many Bears is a Canadian-born First Nations runner from Siksika Nation, Alberta, a part of the Blackfoot Confederacy. Many Bears, was presented with the name Iinomaahka, meaning Running Buffalo, during a naming ceremony while the Siksika Nation celebrated his achievements in running.
Many Bears competed in the 2014 North American Indigenous Games in Regina, Saskatchewan, where he won gold in the 3,000m race, and bronze medals in both the 1,500m race and the 6Â km cross country event. Many Bears competed in the 2015 World Indigenous Games in Palmas, Tocantins, Brazil where he won the gold medal in the 8Â km race.In 2016, Many Bears became the first Siksika Nations member to complete the Boston Marathon.
Spike Eagle Speaker is an accomplished singer, drummer, and dancer from the Siksika Nation. He has received many internationally recognized awards and is currently a member of the singing group, the Blackfoot Confederacy. Spike is a dedicated community champion who uses culture, recreation, and sport to improve the wellness of his Nation.

Alvine Wolf Leg is a Siksika Traditional ceremony grandmother who holds the rights to conduct ceremonies related to Siksika. Alvine is an active bundleholder for the Motokiks of Siksika and is the oldest member of the society.
We will do an intermdiate pace 7km loop and incorporate teachings on the significance of the land during the run.
