Meet our UK Ambassadors!

We are thrilled to introduce our London/ UK Ambassador Team, a group of outstanding outdoor enthusiasts hailing from across the  UK region.

Our ambassadors serve as vital links to the diverse communities nestled within our area. Collaborating closely with them, we strive to bring engaging activations, valuable opportunities, and unwavering support to our local communities.

Meet the team!

Ambassadors

Portrait

Katy Whittaker

Katy is originally from the Peak District, the home of Gritstone. She is known for her movement and technique whilst sending hard climbs on this unforgiving rock type. She now lives in North Wales with her family and is a UK ambassador for Arc’teryx, heading up the Arc’teryx Climb Academy.

“Having climbed for longer than I can remember, 25+ years it seems obvious that my relationship with it has changed and evolved many times. I have done a lot of different disciplines within the sport from competitions to scary headpointing and highballing. However, becoming a mother has been the most
rewarding, wildest, exhausting and challenging thing I have ever done.

As you’d expect climbing looks a little different these days due to time constraints, but these precious pockets of climbing time offer me something I’d not experience or recognised before; moments of silence and peace in my head amongst the chaotic stage of early motherhood.”

Portrait

Amber McKenzie

Amber grew up in Coventry, feeling detached from the outdoors—until 2018, when she climbed her first mountain and discovered its transformative power. Since then, nature has become a central part of her life.

Now based in London, she spends her weekends hiking and wild camping across the UK and Europe. A dedicated boulderer turned rope climber, Amber is currently chasing as many crags as possible while advancing her skills on the wall. She’s also working toward her Hill and Moorland Leader qualification to lead safe, inclusive hikes for her community.

Alongside her outdoor pursuits, Amber holds a doctorate in Psychological Medicine and conducts research focused on mental health and equality—amplifying the voices of underrepresented groups both in science and on the trail.

Portrait

Clinton Thomas

Clint’s journey into the world of adventure began after a serious motorcycle accident in 2005 nearly cost him his foot. Determined not to be defined by injury, he turned to running and, later, climbing—pushing his body and mind beyond limits.

What began as a way to heal evolved into a passion for vertical challenges. Clint conquered his fear of heights through indoor climbing, eventually leading to a 250-meter free climb in France’s Gorge du Verdon. For him, climbing isn’t just sport—it’s community, resilience, and freedom.

Whether exploring London’s indoor walls or Portland’s rugged crags, Clint is a vocal advocate for getting outdoors. He’s passionate about helping others discover the joy of climbing and the healing power of nature.

Portrait

Declan Tate

Based in Manchester, England, Declan is a climber and trail runner who uses outdoor adventure as a way to disconnect from city life, as well as the demands of his full time engineering role in the public transport industry taking advantage of Manchester’s close proximity to the Peak District, Lake District and North Wales.

Climbing originally occupied most of Declan’s free time, but in 2024 he transitioned predominantly to trail running after a climbing injury prevented him from training. He subsequently signed up for his first 50km ultramarathon, marking the beginning of a new endurance focused chapter.

Portrait

Haroon Mota

Haroon is a mountain-loving marathoner with a mission. For nearly two decades, he’s taken on extreme challenges—running multiple marathons and summiting peaks worldwide—all to raise millions for charity and inspire others, especially from South Asian and Muslim communities.

In 2023, Haroon became a Six Star Finisher after completing all six World Marathon Majors. Now shifting toward trail running, he continues to set bold new goals.

Haroon is also the founder of the Active Inclusion Network and Muslim Hikers, now the world’s largest outdoor community for Muslims. His monthly hiking events are some of the UK’s biggest, helping people feel safer, more confident, and welcome in nature.

He’s not just building endurance—he’s building a movement.

Portrait
 Masha Gordon

Meet Masha, a Londoner who thrives in thin air and finds peace in some of the world’s most extreme environments. Her favourite way to spend time? Waking up at unsocial hours to climb north faces or ski-tour toward steep alpine gullies.

Though she began climbing in her 30s, Masha has made up for lost time. Over the past decade, she’s spent over a year in tents, summited multiple 8,000-meter peaks, and taken part in more than 30 expeditions. Her achievements include two Guinness World Records and a growing passion for first ascents. In 2024, she led an expedition to a remote region in Northern Pakistan, where her team made three first ascents—earning the rare privilege of naming them.

A proud mother of two, Masha often climbs with her teenage son, @littlealpinist, whether it’s El Capitan, ice routes in the Alps, or sport climbs in Greece.

She is also the founder of GRIT&ROCK, a foundation championing women in alpinism. Since launching, it has supported over 30 female-led expeditions, empowering a new generation of mountain athletes.

Portrait

Jasmin Rafferty

Jasmin is a climber, coach, and route setter based in London. Her greatest passion lies in sharing the magic of climbing—whether through coaching others toward their personal goals or crafting creative, inclusive routes that invite all abilities to play.

When she’s not helping others grow, Jasmin can be found competing in climbing comps across London, where she thrives on challenge and community. Originally from a small town up North, she finds the contrast of city life both inspiring and grounding, often seeking balance through time outdoors.

Climbing, hiking, camping, stretching, running—Jasmin embraces every opportunity to reconnect with nature, move her body, and simply enjoy the open air.

Portrait

Lucy Rochford

Lucy is a force of nature when it comes to endurance. From ultra-marathons to high-altitude runs, she’s on a mission to push her limits. A highlight in her running journey was finishing 6th at the UTMR in Switzerland, but breaking the 3-hour mark at the 2023 Florence Marathon with a time of 2:58 remains her proudest moment.

Not one to stick to conventional paths, Lucy once ran 300 miles on foot from Everest Base Camp to Kathmandu—an adventure that perfectly captures her relentless spirit. She's also competed in the British Trail Championships and Skyline Scotland, proving her mettle in the UK trail scene.

Now preparing for a 220km ultra marathon in Jordan's Wadi Desert, Lucy isn’t just racing—she’s redefining what it means to be a woman in ultra-running. Whether tackling remote trails or steep alpine terrain, her story is one of perseverance, passion, and pure grit.

Portrait

Oisin Ruben

Oisín is an adventurer and ultra-runner based in West London. With a background in fashion styling, he often blends work and sport, rarely staying still for long.

A regular on the ultra-trail scene, Oisín competed in his first 50-miler in Madeira last year, taking on steep terrain and epic distances. 2024 is shaping up to be just as exciting, with races lined up including the Matterhorn Ultraks 49k and another in the Italian Dolomites—his longest challenge yet.

Whether he's running ridgelines or styling shoots, Oisín brings energy, curiosity, and a bold sense of adventure to everything he does.
