Raphael Slawinkski is a Calgary-based weekend warrior who has been adventuring in the Rockies for over thirty years. Raphael started ice climbing in the early 90s, in the days of leashes and plastic boots. He was drawn in by the athleticism and adventure that climbing brings. Today, with leashless tools and ultralight screws, it almost seems like a different sport. But at its heart, ice climbing is still about having wild times in the mountains. When not climbing, he is a physics professor and parent to two hairless cats. Join his clinic or speaking night to hear stories of some of his most memorable crampon-and-ice tool adventures, from glistening ice pillars to tenuous mixed lines and cold north faces.

Connor grew up just south of Calgary and has felt at home in the mountains since before he could walk. Climbing became a part of his life in his late teens, but it took hold of him after he finished university and made his home in Canmore. After surviving a climbing accident in the Southern Alps of New Zealand. His career path shifted to physical therapy in Edmonton, although mountain pursuits still dominate his personal life. Ice climbing is one of Connor's top favourite activities, and he loves sharing that passion as an instructor at the YEG ACC Ice Wall in Edmonton's river valley. In his eyes, no day is wasted if it is spent outside!
Gordon McArthur has been climbing for twenty-four years; he lives, breathes and eats climbing, whether sport, mixed or ice. Gordon has been lucky enough to experience great success in his efforts. Being crowned as the North American Champion (two years in a row), placing 4th at a World Cup, climbing (with the first ascent) one of the most challenging dry-tooling routes in the world; he has walked along the edge and done his impossible. Although his career as a climber continues, Gordon has partially shifted his focus to his dream of owning a climbing gym. Finally, after years of planning, he can share his passion with the surrounding community. Gordon lives in Cranbrook, BC, with his wife and two daughters; his family's support is unwavering in whatever he takes on.
