Juneteenth Hike with Black People Outside x Arc'teryx Chicago

You’re invited to join Chicagoland organization, Black People Outside (BPO), for a community hike in celebration of Juneteenth and their 3rd anniversary!

At BPO, we understand the need for representation and comfort when trying new experiences. As city dwellers ourselves, we realized the lack of diversity in outdoor spaces and made it our mission to change that. With Black People Outside, we aim to make the great outdoors just as appealing as the city and break down barriers for urban communities to explore and discover nature.

Event Details

Join us for a community hike in celebration of Juneteenth in partnership with Black People Outside at Starved Rock and Matthiessen State Park.

Date: June 21, 2025

Time: 7:30am-6pm

Meet-up location:

Arc'teryx Chicago

Run of Show:

8:30 AM - Meet at Arc'teryx Rush Street store for breakfast and raffle

9:30 AM - Bus departs for Starved Rock

11:00 AM - Arrive at Starved Rock State Park

11:10 AM - Hike to Lonetree Canyon (See route below)

2:00 PM - Load bus to Matthiessen State Park

2:15 PM - Group lunch & presentation at picnic area at Matthiessen State Park

2:45 PM - Optional hike to Waterfall at Matthiessen (See route below)

3:30 PM - Begin return trip to Arc'teryx Rush St

6:00 PM - Arrive back in Chicago

Important notes

Please pack a backpack with all your hiking essentials including:

-Water

-Snacks you may need outside of lunch provided

-Sunscreen

-Insect Repellent

-Sunglasses

-Hiking shoes and moisture-wicking socks (no cotton!)

-Hat if you'd like one

-Trekking poles are optional

There will be a demo fleet of Norvan LD4s on-site for attendees to use on trail. Sizes are limited!
