An interactive live webinar about ski touring and how to get started. We will be discussing why it’s awesome and the various aspects to consider before setting off, including topics such as equipment, navigation and safety on the mountain. We will also be sharing some of our own anecdotes and trying to help you learn from the mistakes we have already made!
The session will touch upon what we believe are the key elements that will help you have a successful and safe ski touring experience. We aim to help give you a foundation to go away and build on, including signposting you to various resources which we have found invaluable in our own ski touring journeys.
Whether you are a complete novice, or if you have previous experience but are keen to learn more, come and join us for an evening of chatting about all things ski touring and the joy it gives. Bring a beer and any questions you might have!
With a background in ski racing and a love for the mountains, Amanda applies her technical knowledge to the ever-changing mountain environment. As a ski racer, Amanda was British number one, and as a race coach she led the British Paralympic Team to win 5 World Championship medals and 7 Paralympic medals in PyeongChang 2018. She is qualified to the highest teaching certificates, is a BASI Trainer and has the European Mountain Safety Award.
Although based in Scotland, her passion has driven Amanda to seek out skiing adventures on almost every continent, with only Africa and Antarctica to go. But skiing on home snow where she learnt to ski is still her favourite.
After 5 years of London city life, Emily turned her back on a full-time chartered accountant career to become a ski instructor. She is an ISIA qualified instructor and holds the European Mountain Safety Award. Emily is also a Mountain Leader and trainee International Mountain Leader. She enjoys sharing her love of the mountains with others, encouraging people to ditch the lifts and experience the mountains from touring skis.
Her biggest challenge to date was a 4-month self-propelled continuous expedition to climb all 282 of Scotland’s Munros (mountains over 3,000 ft) in 2018. Keep an eye out for the short film about her journey: Project 282.
