Intermediate Backcountry Splitboarding Tour

Take your backcountry experience to another level with Arc'teryx Athlete Joe Lax.

You will learn tips and tricks for efficient travel uphill, during transitions, and how to manage variables on the descent, such as slabs and changing snow conditions.

INTERMEDIATE BACKCOUNTRY SPLITBOARDING TOUR

In this clinic, you will learn how to approach backcountry terrain, while safely and efficiently reaching your objective. We will have discussions around trip planning and using weather and avalanche forecasts as decision making factors.

You will learn tips and tricks for efficient travel uphill, during transitions, and how to manage variables on the descent, such as slabs and changing snow conditions. You will also learn how to select terrain and memorize your line for a flowy uninterrupted ride down.

Intermediate Splitboarding Backcountry Tour With Joe Lax

Pre-Requisites:

• Comfortable skiing/riding on a double black diamond run at a North American ski resort
• 20+ days skiing/riding a variety of terrain and snow conditions, including powder as well as variable & marginal conditions
• AST 1 or equivalent required

Location: Blue Room

What You Will Learn:

• How to select terrain on the ascent and descent
• How to efficiently climb with skins on
• How to utilize weather and avalanche forecasts, as well as onsite observations to choose an appropriate objective

Location: Orange Room

Important Details:

• Space is limited, reserve your spot above

• Guests are asked to meet at Alpenglow Expeditions in the Palisades Tahoe ski village by 8:15am

• Guests please bring your own water and food

• After the clinic, meet back up at Alpenglow Expeditions for an Arc'teryx goodie bag!

All guests will receive a separate email from Alpenglow, which includes information on waivers, client questionnaire, required equipment, and parking instructions.
