To whom it may concern,

As a valued member of our Arc’teryx community, your health and safety remains our top priority.

We are diligently monitoring the rapidly developing situation around the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), and on the recommendation of local health authorities, it’s with an abundance of caution and deep disappointment that we’ve made the decision to cancel the all forthcoming events until further notice. While we very much looked forward to connecting with our community, we strongly believe that cancelling community events is the responsible action to take and absolutely the right thing to do.

Please know that we will aim to reschedule all our events in the near future. We will communicate the details of the new event date once it has been confirmed, and in the meantime, we welcome you to contact victoria.bushnell@arcteryx.com if you have any questions, or would like further clarification.

Thank you for your interest in our events, and for your patience as we navigate the emerging impacts of COVID-19. Please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience this cancellation may have caused you. We genuinely look forward to connecting with you and our community soon!

Be well,

Arc’teryx Piccadilly

Stu Shipp (City Mountaineering) and Sam Rees (The Altitude Centre) regularly get this question, and will take you through the step by step process from the moment the thought of standing on top of the ‘Roof of Africa’ pops into your head, to the moment that dream becomes a reality.

They will cover what to look for when searching for your dream trip.

-Which route shall I take?

-Do I need a Western Leader on my trip?

-What experience do I need in the mountains?

-Can I summit Kilimanjaro without climbing other mountains?

-What level of fitness is required?

-How do I train?

-What about the altitude?

-Will it affect me?

-How can I train for altitude?

-What is it like on Kilimanjaro?

-Will I enjoy it?

-What can I expect from my time on the mountain?

All of the above will be answered by Stu and Sam on the evening, but if you have more burning questions, they’ll be on hand for a Q&A at the end of the talk to put that right!

City Mountaineering

City Mountaineering is a London-based adventure company committed to providing a hassle-free, affordable approach to taking people out of the city and into the mountains. Born out of a passion for the mountains around the British Isles, we at City Mountaineering believe that you don’t have to jump on a flight overseas or take weeks off work to have a genuine mountain adventure; the mountains here on our doorstep are as wild and impressive as any around the world, and with many of our trips taking place over a weekend you often won’t need to take a single day off work! With years of experience in exploring Britain's mountain landscape, we specialise in taking the road less travelled, getting off the crowded tourist trails and into the wilderness. Our qualified Mountain Leaders aim to show you the very best of what Britain’s mountains have to offer and to provide you with experiences that you’ll remember for a lifetime.

Sam Rees | The Altitude Centre

Sam currently manages The Altitude Centre’s London based training centre, working with clients from high altitude mountaineers to professional sports people and your everyday weekend warrior. With a degree in Sport & Exercise Science from the University of Bath, and over 4 years experience preparing clients for high altitude trips, he is well placed to help you understand how altitude can impact human performance, and why it’s so important to consider for Kilimanjaro.

Stuart is the founder and head Mountain Leader at City Mountaineering. Stuart has been guiding groups in the mountains for over 15-years and his passion is truly infectious. Stuart spends almost every day of the year guiding small groups in the mountains of The UK and, further afield, in Africa, South America and The Himalaya.
