Date: Tuesday, 8/1
Time: 7-9pm
Location: Arc'teryx Stanford Center
Have you ever wanted a chance to ask our Ambassadors questions about their experiences and adventures? Well now you'll get to do just that! We want to give the community a chance to get to know some of our local ambassadors, and share in conversation around climbing.
Join us in Palo Alto as our team will welcome a group of Arc'teryx Ambassadors from around Northern California. Check out the full list of Ambassadors in attendance below.
Â
We will have some light refreshments and snacks available for guests during the event.
If you do arrive before 7pm, you are more than welcome to shop around, but we will ask that all guests briefly exit the store as we will be closing the doors and reopening for the start of the event.
From Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, I've spent the past several years honing my abilities in the art of rock climbing, whitewater boating, photography, mountain biking, and surfing in beautiful locations around the country.
Â
Working eight years within outdoor education, I've had the unique opportunity of sharing my passions with others; guiding trips down remote sections of whitewater on the Colorado River, and rock climbing at premier locations around the country.Â
Â
I currently work as an experiential educator at Stanford University, sharing my passion for outdoor recreation with excited students from around the world.
Lucho Rivera is a rock climber and route developer from San Francisco. He has spent half of his life climbing in Yosemite, the High Sierra and the SF Bay Area.
He’s established first ascents in Yosemite Valley, Hetch Hetchy, Tuolumne Meadows, the High Sierra and around the Bay Area coastline.
Lucho is also an avid steward of his local communities and enjoys rebolting efforts to keep his favorite climbing areas and climbers safe. He works as a stage rigger in SF where he lives with his wife Mecia Serafino.
Karen Rodriguez-Ponciano (she/her/ella) grew up in Tijuana, México and has spent the last 10 years traveling and living between San Diego, San Francisco and New York. Karen graduated from the University of California – Berkeley, where she studied Sociology, Design and Technology Entrepreneurship. She currently works in the tech sector, conducting research at the intersection of systems design and diversity, equity and inclusion.
Karen is passionate about mental health advocacy, inclusive design and outdoor accessibility. She’s especially dedicated to bringing more Latinx representation to climbing and mountaineering. She is currently involved with ‘Escalemos Juntes,’ a climbing collective celebrating Latinx climbing representation in the Bay Area. In her free time, Karen likes spending time away from screens, backpacking, scrambling and climbing in the alpine.
Mecia Serafino is a Filipino American that was born and raised in San Francisco. She is an administrative professional with a passion for the environment and is an advocate for diversifying outdoor spaces. She has been climbing for about 10 years with her husband Lucho Rivera.
She is also a Board Member for Restore Hetch Hetchy and a member of the Yosemite Climbing Association. Mecia enjoys climbing, hiking, biking, and backpacking.
When not working you can find her in Yosemite, the Pacific Coast, or the Eastern Sierra.
Colin WIlls is a Climber and Trail Runner studying Mechanical Engineering at UC Berkeley.
Colin grew up in the competitive climbing scene - we first met him at All Rise Fest Bay Area where he finished Top 5 - and is now passionate about climbing outdoors, running in the Berkeley Hills, and scrambling in Tahoe on the search for new climbs.
I'm Michelle - a runner, mountaineer, skier, climber - if it involves mountains, I'm there. I love participating in endurance sports, and seeing how far I can push my body to the limit. There's a magical feeling when you come out of a type 2 sufferfest, stronger and better than ever.
My hope is to inspire others to get outside and pursue what makes them feel alive. We all have the same 24 hours in a day, and it's just a matter of how you spend your time. My favorite areas to recreate are in the Eastern Sierra in California and the North Cascades of the Pacific Northwest. My go-to Arcteryx piece is the Beta AR jacket. It's incredibly durable and has kept me warm and dry through some of the worst snow storms!
I'm a routesetter, rocket scientist, and full-time van lifer from Kentucky! My weekends are filled with long adventure days climbing exposed lines along the coast and sunset trail runs through the mountains.
I find a ton of joy in colorful wildflowers, foggy mornings, and biting into a perfectly cooked french fry. I'm stoked to be a part of the Arc'teryx team and connect with a community psyched on great gear and being outside!
Samuel Crossley does whatever it takes to safely document athletes as they push themselves in remote areas and high risk situations.
Â
Big mountains and tired climbers fuel his creativity as he travels full-time out of his Sprinter Van; custom designed and built by himself.
Â
Samuel's commercial and editorial work has been for National Geographic, Google, Red Bull Media House, The North Face, Arc’teryx, REI, Reel Rock, MasterClass and ABC News, among others.
Â
Inspired by Olympic Gold Medalist Matthew Mitcham, Samuel lives his professional life openly gay and is passionate about revealing diversity within the climbing community.
Â
As technology evolves, the process of learning new tools excites Samuel. Shooting with anything from an iPhone to an Arri Amira, his breadth of technical knowledge enables him to focus on what's important, storytelling.
