The Trip Shed lead adventures throughout the Southern Ontario area, and believe in creating a safe and supportive environment for people to step outside their comfort zone. In this Fireside Chat - Aaron and Alex will speak with Toronto based adventurer, long distance swimmer, ultra runner and community organizer Madhu Nagaraja.
Among other accomplishments, Madhu was the first Canadian to swim across the Strait of Magellan. Madhu is a proponent of responsible recreation, guiding force in local sustainability, and one of the founders of Great Lakes Open Water - a winner of the 2019 Arc'teryx Problem Solvers initiative. Madhu Nagaraja is a Technology Leader in RegTech, FinTech and Sustainbility initiatives. He's currently the Director of Product Management and Product Operations at PointChain Technology Inc. PointChain is a software platform that leverages smart contracting and analytics to support regulated, high-risk, and complex industries; enabling trusted, transparent, and efficient networks.

MADHU NAGARAJA learned to swim as a child in India, in his hometown of Mysuru. It was there that he first learned about the Great Lakes when he was in Grade 5. Little did he know what a major role this lesson would later play in his life.
According to Canadian long distance swimming icon Marilyn Bell, “My friend Madhu Nagaraja has proven that he is an extraordinary athlete. He has swum the English Channel and conquered Lake Ontario and continues to train with diligence and a passion that comes from deep in his marathoner’s heart.”
Madhu devotes many hours working with both Great Lakes Open Water Adventures (GLOW) and Great Lakes Trust, a fund supporting scientific research, artistic expression, and civic
engagement for the Great Lakes.
Among Madhu’s swimming accomplishments:
2004 swam across the English Channel
2005 swam in Lake Ontario for the first time
2012 swam across Lake Ontario
2016 was part of a group that swam 1 mile in each of the Great Lakes in less than 24 hours
2017 first Canadian to swim across the Strait of Magellan
