Date: Sunday, April 13
Pre-Run Meetup: 8:30 AM at Arc'teryx MarketStreet (110 Market Street, Lynnfield, MA)
Depart for Trail: 9:15 AM
Run Start: 10:00 AM at Lower Sheepfold Parking Lot (Route 28, Stoneham, MA)
Trail: East Middlesex Fells Reservoir Loop – approx. 4.2 miles
Lower Sheepfold Parking Lot – What to Expect
📍 Location: Off Fellsway West (Route 28) in Stoneham, MA — type “Sheepfold Dog Park” into GPS for accuracy.
🚗 Capacity: One of the larger lots in the Middlesex Fells Reservation — accommodates around 40–50 vehicles.
💵 Cost: Free parking
🕘 Hours: Gates typically open at 9:00 AM, but they are often open a bit earlier, especially on weekends. No overnight parking.
🐶 Dog Park Traffic: It shares space with the off-leash Sheepfold Dog Park, so weekend mornings can get busy. Expect a few more cars if the weather’s nice.
🅿️ Overflow Parking: If the main lot fills up:
Try the upper lot just north of the Sheepfold entrance
Look for legal pull-off spots along Fellsway West
Carpooling from Arc'teryx MarketStreet is the smart move!
What to Bring:
Trail Running Shoes – Good tread is important for uneven terrain (roots, rocks, possible mud)
Water Bottle or Hydration Pack – There are no water stations on the trail
Layers – April can be chilly in the morning, so dress in moisture-wicking layers
Light Snack – Optional for post-run energy, though refreshments will be provided at Arc'teryx
Sunscreen / Hat / Sunglasses – Just in case the sun decides to show off
Bug Spray – Not usually bad in early April, but can’t hurt
A Friend – Trail miles are better together!
