Join us on January 12th 2023 from 7-9pm for a film night! We will be showing three episodes from the documentary series Fabric!  Store Ambassador Irie Smith and Sandy Ward from Indigenous Women Outdoors will be talking on their experience while filming for Fabric episode 3. Sit back with a drink and some snacks while you enjoy this film night.

Sit back with a drink and some snacks while you enjoy this film night. 


Fabric Episode 1 Knowledge - Robin Van Gyn, Paige Alms, Izzi Gomez and Estelle Pensiero star in this episode about gaining experience and understanding through research and practise and passing on knowledge via mentorship.

 

Fabric Episode 3 Activism  - Snowboarders Marie-France Roy and Ireland Smith demonstrate macro and micro approaches to environmental reform. Surfer Leah Dawson and skateboarder Hannah Eddy impact positive shifts for the planet.

 

 

Fabric Episode 4 Cultural Heritage - Embracing identity and tradition to empower future generations of indigenous youth. Snowboarder Spencer O’Brien finds her voice as an Indigenous leader with help from Sandy Ward and Rose Archie. Surfer Mainei Kinimaka preserves ancestral tradition through stewardship of language and tradition.

Ireland Smith 


Ireland's aspiration is to become an ACMG splitboard guide and has spent the last year in Iceland for adventure guiding school where she learned about crevasse rescue, more avalanche skills, ice climbing, and many other skills. She grew up competing in snowboarding in the terrain park but the backcountry is where she found the most peace and adrenaline at the same time.

Sandy Ward

Sandy Ward is a member of the Lil’wat Nation, and an avid snowboarder, mountain biker and climber. She has been snowboarding for 22 years and has been a competitive halfpipe rider, snowboard instructor and backcountry enthusiast. During the winter season Sandy runs the backcountry program for Indigenous Women Outdoors and volunteers for Indigenous Life Sport Academy. She is currently working towards her guiding certs and is stoked on being outside from dawn till well past dusk.
