Ireland's aspiration is to become an ACMG splitboard guide and has spent the last year in Iceland for adventure guiding school where she learned about crevasse rescue, more avalanche skills, ice climbing, and many other skills. She grew up competing in snowboarding in the terrain park but the backcountry is where she found the most peace and adrenaline at the same time.
Sandy Ward is a member of the Lil’wat Nation, and an avid snowboarder, mountain biker and climber. She has been snowboarding for 22 years and has been a competitive halfpipe rider, snowboard instructor and backcountry enthusiast. During the winter season Sandy runs the backcountry program for Indigenous Women Outdoors and volunteers for Indigenous Life Sport Academy. She is currently working towards her guiding certs and is stoked on being outside from dawn till well past dusk.
