Arc'teryx Artist Series: Repurposed. For a cause.

Arc’teryx Artist Series is an invitation to see possibility where others see dead ends. For radical intentions to generate wild reinterpretations. Exclusive to Arc’teryx Calgary, available in-store only, on 6 March from 11AM - 6PM, Arc’teryx Artist Series launches a limited collection created by The Chief’s Daughter.

Competitive pow-wow dancer, Piikani Nation member with Nez Perce roots, The Chief’s Daughter, artist Karli Crowshoe makes creations for the generations, customizing life-time pieces to become distinctive artefacts you’d be proud to pass down. After hand-beading her own pow-wow regalia at the age of 13, she established renown for her exquisite hats and jewelry. In this collaboration, The Chief’s Daughter adorns a limited collection of Arc’teryx jackets and bags with one-of-a-kind embellishments that convey regal distinction.

Grounded in culture, infused with the dance, inspired by a proud lineage of chiefs and leaders, Karli Crowshoe wants to give every person who wears her pieces a sense of their sovereign self –the self-honour embodied in a Chief’s Daughter. “I was raised very culturally, and I was raised to be shown that a man can’t do anything without a woman, in a ceremony sense -you have nothing unless you have a woman there to help you, guide you and to give you advice. You always need that woman in your life to centre you. Because we all come from women. In my family, Women’s Day is a daily practice.Women are the strength of everything.”

Arc’teryx Artist Series is an invitation to see possibility where others see dead ends. For radical intentions to generate wild reinterpretations. By centring artists and culture shapers, these localised experiments yield new ways of looking, limited edition offerings, and support for artist-chosen community initiatives.

Hand-beading 16 Arc’teryx jackets and totes, The Chief’s Daughter honours uniqueness and the courage to be different, with custom beadwork that guarantees that no piece is the same, and that invokes a generations-deep relationship with land, story and culture.

The limited collection will be offered for sale at Arc’teryx Calgary, 6 March 2021.Partial proceeds from the offering will go to support the Piikani Board of Education, by providing a scholarship to assist to support a single mother of indigenous heritage pursuing post secondary education.

“Let’s start some conversations and break down some barriers.” - Karli Crowshoe
