SPEAKER
Jozef Metelka
"Growing up in Slovakia, I was always out skiing, cycling, mountain biking, hiking, playing tennis, etc. I absolutely love being outdoors. My attitudes, goals, aims and almost all I do is somehow connected to it.
Individual’s life is a journey. My ultimate goal is to show the world that everything is possible when a human being is willing to push the limits and says yes to life’s challenges. My ambition is to create bridges between those in Out of the Norm and Normal worlds.
II was born second time about 12 years ago.
Nobody knows what waits behind the next corner. I would never ever dream to suffer from an injury that can change one’s life. my life started to twist and turn in the most unpredictable ways. Immediately after the crash my thoughts went to my tennis coaching career and how that is over for a while. Due to lack of knowledge in leg fractures I thought that sharp strong pain meant double fracture or something similar.
Just after I went through all the pain, numerous operations and efforts to salvage my leg, doctors announced that there is only one possible way how to approach my situation. Amputation. How horrible, sad and also disgusting, I thought. I could not believe that in this modern world there is nothing else that can be done. The life as I knew it was over. Based on my previous sport based lifestyle, I have decided that this simply cannot be the end of my adventurous life. "
PARTNER and Ambassador
Clinton Thomas
In 2005, Clinton nearly losing his left foot in a motorcycle accident. After three months recovering in
hospital and a further year under “house arrest”, he decided to take up running. Despite the plates
and pins in his leg he’s built up his distance over time and running is now a key part of his weekly
routine.
Flash forward to 2016, when Clinton decided to battle his then crippling fear of heights. Since
stumbling into a local bouldering gym and signing up for an induction he’s been infatuated with the
sport, achieving a 250 metre free climb in the Gorge du Verdon, and believes the climbing
community is one of the best highlights of the sport.
In love with the outdoors, wildlife and the challenges mother nature throws his way, Clinton is an
advocate of getting outside, and introducing more people into climbing in London and Portland.
