Climb In Progress: A Full Day of Bouldering & Climbing Workshops

 

Event Highlights:

Multiple hands-on workshops designed to improve your climbing techniques, routes-etting skills, and movement on the wall. Focused sessions that cater to different styles, skill levels, and goals. A community-driven event that welcomes climbers of all backgrounds, including women-focused and inclusive sessions.

Route-setting workshops:

 
Route setting for beginner:
Hosted by Stronghold's experienced routesetting team, this workshop is perfect for those curious about the art and technique of setting boulder problems. You'll learn the basics of route design, safety considerations, and creative movement. Plus, the boulders you set will be tested by Arc'teryx ambassadors! Whether you're new to routesetting or looking to gain some insider knowledge, this workshop is a fantastic way to get hands-on experience.


Slab Setting Workshop:
Join Stronghold's expert routesetters for an in-depth workshop focused on the subtle art of setting slab climbs. Slab climbing requires both balance and precision. This session will show you how to design routes that challenge climbers in unique ways. Plus, Arc'teryx ambassadors will be on hand to test the problems you create. Perfect for those who want to deepen their understanding of slab dynamics.

Comp-style Setting Workshop:
Step into the exciting world of competition-style routesetting with Stronghold's experienced setting team. This workshop will dive into the techniques and thought processes behind creating dynamic, crowd-pleasing boulder problems designed for competition environments. From powerful moves to coordination challenges, you'll learn how to set high-energy climbs that test both skill and strategy. Arc'teryx ambassadors will be there to test your creations, giving you valuable insight into comp-style setting.

 


Climbing Workshops:


Female Kilter Board Workshop:
Board climbing is seen by many as a training tool but a session on our Kilter Board can also be a fun and social climbing experience too! This session will be led by (female Arc'teryx ambassador) and supported by Stronghold's coaching team, designed for both beginners and experienced climbers. This session will focus on getting you set up and comfortable using the Kilter board and will offer a welcoming environment to connect with other female climbers and enjoy a social, supportive atmosphere. A minimum bouldering grade of V3 is recommended to get the most out of this workshop.

 


Inclusive Kilter Board Workshop:
Board climbing can be an intimidating space. If you’ve always wanted to try board climbing out, whether you're a complete board beginner or have some experience, this is a great session to find out how the Kilter works and much more. This workshop is designed to help everyone get started on the Kilter board and you will learn how to use the board effectively for both training and fun. A minimum bouldering grade of V3 is recommended to get the most out of this workshop.

 


Climb Photography:

Capture Every Moment Like a Pro
Are you passionate about climbing and photography? This unique workshop will teach you how to photograph climbers in action and create stunning visual stories from the wall to the crag. Whether you’re looking to sharpen your skills for personal projects or get into climbing photography professionally, this is your chance to learn from the PRO!

 


Comp-style climbing workshop:
Ever wanted to try comp style boulders? Join Stronghold's expert coaching team for a comp-style climbing workshop. This session lets you try out a selection of problems set specifically with comp style moves in mind. Learn how to tackle the unique challenges of competition-style bouldering and be ready to put your agility, balance and coordination to the test! A minimum bouldering grade of V3 is recommended to get the most out of this workshop.

 


Steep/Overhanging Climbing Workshop:
Do you find yourself shying away from overhanging climbs? If yes, then this session is just for you. Join Stronghold's expert coaching team for a workshop that focuses on conquering steep and overhanging terrain. This workshop looks at utilising techniques that climbers can use to move more efficiently on overhangs. Learn how to use body positioning, footwork and power to tackle steep climbs. A minimum bouldering grade of V3 is recommended to get the most out of this workshop. 

 


Dynamic & Coordination Climbing Workshop:
Modern bouldering sometimes calls for a dynamic approach! This session, led by our expert coaching team, covers the basic principles of dynamic movement and how we can use this in other aspects of our climbing. We will help you master explosive moves and teach techniques for tackling coordination-based problems that require timing, balance and momentum. A minimum bouldering grade of V3 is recommended to get the most out of this workshop.

 


Volume movement Workshop:
Unlock the secrets of climbing on volumes. Join Stronghold's expert coaching team for a workshop will show you how to use balance, body positioning and subtle footwork to move efficiently on large holds and volumes. This session will help you develop the techniques to climb confidently on volumes and send you on your way to tackle the trickiest of slab problems. A minimum bouldering grade of V3 is recommended to get the most out of this workshop.
