What: Two stylized mindful nature hikes this and next weekend, capped off with an outdoor gear swap and Earth Day flea at our La Brea store.

Join Ethan Delorenzo (permaculture farmer, edible plant expert) on this hike and workshop as he educates and empowers our relationship with the edible and medicinal plants that grow all around us. Participants will learn all about and forage from over 15 various edible plants that grow abundantly in the Southern California region. Look to deepen your awareness and help dissolve any fear from the natural world. NO PRIOR EXPERIENCE NEEDED.

The area can get cold but is also exposed to the sun. Bring adequate layers and sun protection. Water will be provided.
Join Alexia Rojas (geologist, field scientist) as she shares fundamental earth science knowledge by merging outdoor activities with field geology. During the 1 mile hike and climbing sessions, participants will learn about regional geology and rock identification basics. Look to obtain a better understanding of the vast time over which Southern California formed and leave with a newfound appreciation for the earth and the desire to preserve it. NO PRIOR EXPERIENCE NEEDED.
LOCATION: HORSE FLATS CAMPGROUND
TIME: 10AM - 12PM
MEET UP POINT: We will be parking along Horse Flats road but not within the campground loop. The parking requires a California Adventure Pass. If you don't have one we will get one for you, just mention it in your RSVP.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS:
Water and a snack is strongly recommended. Climbing is at the top of Mt.Hillyer. If you would like to download an all trails map ahead of time, download “Mt.Hillyer trail from Horse Flats Campground”. Horse flats area can get cold but is also exposed to the sun. Bring adequate layers and sun protection.

Clear out the garage and bring your own used goods to swap alongside others. Eat, drink, and vibe out with a handpicked selection of Earth Day food and drink vendors.

INFO ON BRINGING / SELLING GEAR: EVERYONE is allowed to bring/sell gear at the swap. ALL outdoors related gear, clothing, and supplies are OK to be brought. There will be tables for you to set up your items alongside the other vendors. If you are bringing a lot of gear, please reach out ahead of time to get a designated spot (Michael@usalproject.com).
