Arc'teryx is partnering with Read & Run Chicago to host the second run in their newest trail run series inspired by Welbers' book, Chicago Transit Hikes. This guidebook details some of the best trails Chicagoland has to offer and history, context, and fun facts about how they came to be, and the fascinating natural phenomenons, people and events that made them--PLUS how to get to them via public transportation (CTA, Metra, South Shore, etc.). Whoever says us Chicagoans aren't outdoorsy is sorely mistaken!
WHEN/WHERE:Â Meet at 6pm on Thursday, May 19 in front of Arc'teryx Bucktown Outlet. In the spirit of this book, we encourage all runners to arrive via public transportation of their choice.Â
ROUTE/RUN 6-7pm:Â This run will start/end from the Arc'teryx Bucktown Outlet and cover the length of The Bloomingdale Trail and back. You can see the full route here. Runners are welcome to run the entire proposed ~5.75-mile route with Read & Run Chicago founder Allison Yates, or choose whatever length they feel most comfortable with.Â
Post-Run 7-8pm: Meet back at the store for a post-run author presentation and book signing! Refreshments will also be provided.
Optional to prepare: You can purchase Lindsay Welbers' Chicago Transit Hikes online here or at your favorite indie bookstore before the run. Welbers will also have books available for purchase after the event.Â
About Read & Run Chicago:Â
Read & Run Chicago is the city's first and only running experience with routes inspired by books. We read books set in Chicago written by local authors and then run a route inspired by the book. The goal is to run with purpose, explore thoughtfully, and bring books to life. Follow Read & Run Chicago on Instagram here.Â
