Why is risking death worth it for adventurers? This is a question Greg Hill--Canadian pro skier, guide, and "The 2-Million Foot Man"--gets asked often. In this frank, open, and unflinching memoir, he does his best to provide an answer and bring some understanding and solace to his friends and family should he pay the ultimate price for his undeniable need for adrenaline.Â
Â
How does an adrenaline-seeker build a career doing what he loves and still have time to be an integral part of a loving family and lead a full and balanced life as a ski adventuring environmentalist? Â
 Â
Greg Hill answers these questions and more in his new book, I Could Die at Any Moment, published October 1, 2024, and available at the in-person event series. Over the course of the evening, Greg will share more about hardcore life-altering decisions, survival as a reality he faces daily, and the gratitude he has for still being alive after experiencing everything from avalanches to world records. As he puts it, he could die at any moment...Â
 Â
Part serious, part fun, don’t miss out on a chance to connect, ask questions, get your book signed and enjoy a refreshment or two.Â
Joining Greg on this stop of the book tour will be Arc'teryx Ambassadors Connor Koch and Mike Thurk to join the panel for a night of speakers: Photos and storytelling are simple at face value, but they are key tools to understand the core of who we are in the mountains and beyond. While Mike Thurk and Connor Koch typically spend time on opposing sides of the camera, their approach to creating is defined by similar pillars. They've shot together in the high country, on film festival tours, and at running clinics, producing a wide body of work that remains cohesive and stylistically consistent.
In this twist on a typical athlete presentation, you'll hear about the intersection of art and athletics, Mike and Connor's philosophy behind making meaningful images, the roles of the shooter and the subject, and the preparation necessary for all the elements to come together.Â

As a photographer, I strive to capture emotion in a way that transcends the photograph and becomes an experience.
My photography is emotionally sensitive and perspective-based, evoking divergent interpretations based on the unique perspective of the viewer. I encourage active emotional participation of the viewer by providing as little explanation to the photograph as possible. I strive to allow the viewer to create a uniquely personal emotional connection with the moment, and further facilitate the emotional collaboration between myself, the viewer, and the subject.
I use black and white, abstraction, and motion to elevate the feeling and connection of the viewer to the photograph, in order to increase our overall emotional connectivity.
I believe the more we are able to question, to feel, to understand, the closer we become.
Mountain Athletics have defined my adult life, from fast and light pushes on the Colorado 14ers, to technical Teton and Montana high points, to first ski descents in the Alaska Range.
I'm comfortable on any medium, but most inspired by long days with nothing but a small pack and running shoes, testing my limits and finding the edge of possibility between the earth and the sky.
When approaching mountain objectives, I'm driven equally by the summit and the experience, focusing on immersion and presence in the mountains with a hopeful outcome of success. As important to me is the process in advance- gaining clarity on my motivations, being honest about my fitness and abilities, and narrowing down the gear list to take everything I need & nothing I don't, a practice that brings me to the sharp end. Alongside writing, mountains are the best format I have for expressing my creativity.
