The Alliance for the Great Lakes is a nonpartisan nonprofit working across the region to protect our most precious resource: the fresh, clean, and natural waters of the Great Lakes.  Headquartered in Chicago, the Alliance works regionally to protect and restore the Great Lakes, which border Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, Ohio, Minnesota, Indiana, New York and Pennsylvania

Openlands protects the natural and open spaces of northeastern Illinois and the surrounding region to ensure cleaner air and water, protect natural habitats and wildlife, and help balance and enrich our lives. The org has helped protect more than 55,000 acres of land for public parks and forest preserves, wildlife refuges, land and water greenway corridors, urban farms, and community gardens.
