Our line up will feature local experts that will cover topics from backcountry safety, to avoiding injury when operating, to proper gear. The information packed night will prepare you for venturing into the backcountry safely.Â

Mike Koppang
Mike has been a Public Safety Specialist in the Kananaskis region since 2003. He is a certified ACMG Ski Guide, CAA Level 1,2,3, Avalanche Mapping, Introduction to Weather Skills for Avalanche professionals, Advanced Wilderness First aid. During his time in Kananaskis he has responded to numerous recreational avalanches and accidents in avalanche terrain and has been a leader in using social media as a tool to communicate avalanche information. Mike is currently employed as a Public Safety/Mountain Safety specialist/Avalanche Forecaster by Alberta Parks and the Government of Alberta.

Dr. Brad Kane
Brad Kane is never standing still. He is a chiropractor, thought leader, back country skier, mountain biker, entrepreneur, cross fit athlete/coach, family man, and community leader. Brad is also the owner of The Calgary Centre for Health and has worked with many Professional Athletes, Olympic Athletes and National Competitors who operate in a wide range of sports and adventures. He has presented at many seminars and events including the Canadian Chiropractic Association National Convention, Federation of Canadian Chiropractic Regulators, Alberta Diabetes Foundation and was an observer of the Global Summit on the Effectiveness of Spinal Manipulation for the Prevention and Management of Non-Musculoskeletal Disorders. Brad brings years of experience and a passion for teaching how to help people feel and move their best.Â
Lindsay Ford
Lindsay is knowledgeable in all things Arc'teryx. She works for Arc'teryx managing national accounts with brands like MEC. Lindsay brings her expertise to our event to educate on ski gear and what to wear to get the best out of your backcountry experience.Â
Kirsten Knechtel &Â Carla Demyen
Kirsten and Carla are the dynamic duo of ACMG Ski Guides. Carla calls the Canadian Rockies home, she currently operates as a Full Ski Guide with ten plus years experience as a heli-ski guide, Apprentice Alpine Guide, CAA Level 2 accredited and a CAA Professional Member. The Canadian Rockies have also been a defining element of Kirsten’s life. In 1999 Kirsten became the fourth Canadian woman to be certified as an ACMG Mountain Guide. Over the years she has had the opportunity to guide at many backcountry ski touring lodges, numerous heli- and cat-skiing operations, as well as running her our guiding business. With over twenty years into her career, mountain guiding continues to be a passion Kirsten.
