Exclusive to Arc’teryx Toronto, dropping in-store only, on 7 November, Arc’teryx Artist Series launches a limited collection created by Better Gift Shop.
Culture shaper Avi Gold of Better Gift Shop is a Toronto-based streetwear veteran, who created the Better brand as a walking moodboard of the styles he wanted to see around him. Shaped by edge walkers, skaters and graffiti artists from New York, LA, Tokyo, London, Berlin, Gold’s Better Gift Shop began as homage to a favourite hang-out, to nudge his home city to make culture more accessible. “I grew up culturally starved. We built a gift shop to a fictional museum, a hub for everyone to enjoy their interests, a platform to work with different artists. I hope whatever we’re doing inspires a kid to come up with his or her own interesting ideas.”
Arc’teryx Artist Series is an invitation to see possibility where others see dead ends. For radical intentions to generate wild reinterpretations. By centring artists and culture shapers, these localised experiments yield new ways of looking, limited edition offerings, and support for artist-chosen community initiatives.
Hand-selecting 70 Arc’teryx jackets and totes, Better Gift Shop reinterprets functionality with embroidered tributes to what makes us what we are: DNA, evolutionary twists, influences, friends. The limited collection will be offered for sale at the Arc’teryx Toronto, 7 November 2020.
Partial proceeds from the offering will go to support Uplift Kitchen in Toronto and the California Community Foundation in Los Angeles, who are helping mitigate the impact of COVID-19 and inequity.
