Growing up in California, Jingmai wanted to be a cartoonist. She discovered paleontology after her mom earned a PhD in geology. Now Jingmai leads dinosaur research at the Field Museum, focusing on birds and the evolution of flight. Jingmai has authored over 150 scientific papers and has collected fossils on four continents. She loves her dogs, spicy food, dancing, hiking, tattoos, and travel.
