Izzy's love for skiing and exploring wild spaces began at a young age, when her parents moved her and her three younger siblings from Calgary to a tent in the remote BC wilderness for a summer to build a backcountry ski lodge. She spent her teen years ski racing at an international level, but off the piste and deep in the mountains is where she felt most at home. She settled in Revelstoke in 2008 and has been lucky to spend much of the last 15 years chasing powder across the globe as a professional skier, coach, filmmaker and writer. There is no boundary for her passions, as she prefers to take a holistic approach merging all facets of her life from skiing, storytelling, child-rearing and running a small business in her hometown of Revelstoke, BC.
"At an early age my parents gave me the gift of skiing on the hill behind our house in Banff. At the time I had no idea how high and far I would take that gift. From Olympic heights to mountains valley bottoms, travelling through the mountains has had a tremendous impact on me. To this day, I am still so inspired to keep visiting and adventuring in wild places with the people I love and admire. Getting to work in the mountains is a dream come true.”
Phil Widmer is a full ACMG guide, previous athlete of the Canadian National Olympic Nordic Ski team and he currently shares time between Banff and Golden as a ski and climbing guide, and in mountain public safety.
Jordy Burks lives in Canmore with his wife, Carrie, and their three children. In 1987, after success as an athlete, Jordy began coaching ski racing. Twenty-five years later he switched to coaching freestyle—or specifically freeride. Virtually all of his coaching has been at the grass-roots level (in the U20 age category). Across ski racing and freeride, Jordy played a role developing Junior World Championship medalists, North American Champions, and Canadian Champions. Some of the athletes Jordy has coached are ski racers Cary Mullen, Ed Podivinsky, Eric and Jeff Read; as well as freeriders Cole Richardson (Arc’teryx), Claire McPherson, Jack Kolesch, Seth Sands, and Izzy Lynch (Arc’teryx). Jordy also has a PhD in philosophy.
