Behind the lens is Emily Currie, an up and coming filmmaker from Halifax, Nova Scotia. Her love for storytelling began as a child, making videos and photographing her horses in the Annapolis Valley. Two years ago, she made the leap and dove into videography full time. Now, Emily is the Media Manager of Seven Bays, and continues her passion projects outside of the office.
While Emily had been planning a project surrounding women in sports since early 2024, the project got pushed to the side when she was diagnosed with breast cancer at 24 years old. After several months of treatment with chemotherapy right around the corner, "20 Grit" became the fire she needed to keep going. Amongst planning, shooting, and editing the film, Emily was facing the cruelest parts life has to offer, refusing to let cancer consume her identity.
"20 Grit" is not just a celebration of the physical strength it takes to boulder; it is an ode to resilience, perseverance, and celebrating the power in community.
